27th- 2nd September

2nd Fathers Day

We started off the day with a very grizzly little boy, actually we ended the day on the same note!! Josh has a tooth coming through, which really does not help his mood. The swimming lesson was fun, we then went to Dee Why for breakfast. Josh fell asleep when leaving so we were home early. After his nap we played outside blowing bubbles, then went for a ride at Balmoral, enjoying the sun.

I'd just finished cutting his toe nails, when he sat down to finish the job.

29th Josh does a good job feeding himself. Usually it is half by hand and half with the spoon. But today we had a challenge as the meal was soup...so no chance to use his fingers. He did very well, got about 70% of the soup in his mouth, the rest was on his shirt and the floor.

THE SPOKEN WORD
Caaaaa (whilst pointing) for Cat or any four legged animal
Peas! for Please
Oww for Owl
Oooooaaaddooooo said with his mouth closed , for a roosters crow
Baa for Simba the cat
GeeGaa means Big Hug. He pulls up his shoulders and comes in for a tight hug.

20th-26th

Josh enjoying playing on his own in the sun. 25th Today we went for a stroll at Balmoral beach. Josh enjoyed his new bike, although he does not like to keep his feet on the pedals or platform provided. Andrew thought of a clever way to stop Josh's feet from dragging on the ground...he hooked them up with a strap over Josh's shoulders...Josh did not even acknowledge the change. We could then relax and not worry about his feet getting caught under the wheel.

24th Josh and I had a lovely day together. We visited Alec and Belinda for a coffee in St Ives, and in the afternoon we took a stroll to our local shops.

Dad bought Josh his own kids sunnies from the Cancer Council.
Josh in his new blue dressing gown, looks more like a Smoking Jacket. Here he is dancing swaying his hips. He loves dancing to the music.

21st August Today Josh had a small cardboard barrel which he was filling with blocks, bricks etc. He found some bricks could not fit in the barrel so he took the bigger bricks apart to make them smaller...and then they fitted in the barrel. This is the first time I have seen him try to solve the problem.....normally if they did not fit he'd just give up...and probably throw the bricks :-)

20th August

Oupa left us today, but he'll be back in Feb 08. Josh loved having Oupa here, they enjoyed each others company and had many hearty laughs together. I think Oupa is ready for a rest, and probably a few Physio appointments.

Oupa bought Josh his first bike, so far he can't ride it so gets pushed around....

Dinner time...we'll miss having Oupa here to help with the meals.

7th- 12th August

8/8/2007
Oupa had some time alone with Josh, at first Oupa was blowing the bubbles, but before long Josh had the bottle and was getting the bubble mix all over himself.

Looking to see if there is anything in the bottle....
All gone!!! (He used to just do the actions, now he says the words too)

Today we went to Balmoral beach for a stroll. Josh was so well behaved, he listened to everything I said and followed my instructions happily. I really feel this week he has started to understand so much more, he really seems to understand what I am saying and does as he is told. Eg. I can ask him to put something away and he does, or I say bath time and off he runs to the bathroom, or " No" don't touch cos dirty and he moves on....etc

30th -6th August

Josh has started to say PLEASE... he says it in his own little way - pronounced ,drawn out
" peas". So when he wants to get lifted up he says with hands raised " Up.... peas"

6th August
Playing Hide and Seek with Dad during dinner. Josh really enjoys his grapes, so I give him a clean bunch in a bowl which keeps him busy for a while. He is always happy to share his food, so Dad gets a few grapes too.
He is learning so quickly, we just show him something once and he copies us. We are loving his interaction and enjoying teaching him new things.

1st August . Josh is learning new things each day. Today he showed his preference for shoes for the first time. He brought over his blue gum boots, so I put them on him. Then he got his blue trainers, so we changed shoes. He was then happy. Later that day after his afternoon sleep he collected his boots and asked me to put them on him. His way of asking is to say " Moi!?! and hand me the boots, he then drops his bum to the ground and points to his foot..... "
